January 31: A student in the Elementary Building this week said to a classmate that a family member was going to “shoot up the school.” After referring to law enforcement for investigation, it was determined that there was no merit to the statement, and that in fact, this family member had no knowledge that the student was saying this. The student admitted it was said to see how the friend would react. As always, we encourage parents to be speaking to your children about using this type of language at school. We will use available resources each time we hear this kind of talk, and when reports are fabricated, it diverts these resources from use elsewhere.
