Hi everyone, this is Mr. Houseknecht with a quick update. Our first week went fairly well, but we have quite a few things to keep working on. As far as the mandatory screener program and emails go, we're getting a bit faster every day. If your children have cell phones, it would really help to have them take a picture of the confirmation or simply forward it to them. At the very least, please let them know you filled out the screener email before they leave for school. This will help make the process move more quickly in the morning. If it's not working for you, we will work to fix it. I realize that this new year is difficult for everyone, but we will succeed together. Please keep those ideas coming my way via email or phone. Hello High School Parents, Our first day is in the books, and we pulled it off pretty well. We’re working out the kinks of our screener program. It would really help to tell your children when you have completed the screener so they can relay that info to us. Better yet, have your student take a picture of the confirmation email, or even forward it to them. While it may be a few extra steps at home, it streamlines the process and saves them time at the door. I know this can be a pain, but it’s a necessary tool for us to be open. On Wednesday, Sept. 9 from 12:00-1:00pm, there will be a Virtual Student Orientation for ALL students on Google Meet. All high school students (whether in person or fully remote) have been invited and need to attend. During this orientation, students will be introduced to all of the virtual teachers, learn the basics of new technology, talk about virtual schedules, and much more. It is expected that ALL STUDENTS attend this meeting. Students will be counted as absent for the day if they do not attend. If there is a technical issue or valid absence reason, please contact the school. This is a very important meeting. I’ve included a meeting link in my corresponding text message. To comply with the New York State mandate that we do a daily screener for those in the building, South Seneca has partnered with Cayuga Health to make use of their screener tool. Families of students will receive an email from the system directing them to a brief registration process. After that, you will receive an email each day with a unique link to use to complete the screener. Depending on your answers to the 6 daily health screening questions, you get a “green” or “red” status. Green means your child is clear to come in. Our online health screening process will launch soon. Anyone seeking entry to a school building or school bus will need to complete and pass our online screening process prior to entry. Please ensure that the school has an email address on file for each family so we can contact you. Families will need a way to take students’ temperatures at home, we can provide thermometers to families who need them. Please contact the school for help.

Graduation ceremonies will be at 9:30 on Saturday, June 27 at the HS athletic fields.

Remote learning will continue through the end of the fourth marking period for all students. Students are responsible for work that’s assigned. Students will not be in the building, but we’re open for learning.
