Good afternoon South Seneca Students, Staff, Parents and Community, With the school year newly over and our graduates planning for their next steps, our focus is already turning toward the upcoming 2025–2026 school year. We’d like to take a moment to inform you about two important statewide changes that will take effect on September 1, 2025, and how our district is preparing to implement them. 🌡️ Classroom Temperature Limits – Effective September 2025 - New legislation mandates that classroom temperatures be monitored and must not exceed 88°F. The district is currently assessing our facilities and operational plans to ensure full compliance with this requirement. On particularly hot days, we may need to shift to half-day schedules or other alternatives. Should such changes be necessary, we will communicate them with families well in advance and with clarity. 📵 Ban on Internet-Connected Personal Devices During the School Day – Effective September 2025 - Also beginning in September, a new statewide ban will restrict the use of personal internet-enabled devices—such as smartphones, smartwatches, and tablets—during instructional hours. School-issued technology used for educational purposes will still be allowed. However, all personal devices with internet access will need to be turned off and stored away throughout the school day. We are in the process of crafting a district policy in response to this law and would value your input as part of our community. Please take a moment to complete a short survey to share your thoughts and help guide our planning 👉 Cell Phone Ban Survey https://forms.gle/dahDZLXYEZ51cF748 (if you would like a paper copy, they will be available in the district office for pickup starting July 7th) We appreciate your continued partnership and support as we work to ensure a strong and successful start to the new school year. With appreciation, Kyle Colunio Superintendent South Seneca Central School District

South Seneca High School's Vocal Jazz ensemble traveled to Six Flags Darien Lake on Monday, May 19 to participate in Music Fest. The group performed three songs from their Spring Concert for an adjudicator. They received verbal and written feedback from the adjudicator. Vocal Jazz received a score of 98.2, which is the highest score Vocal Jazz has received in their 10 years of operating as a Show Choir. Sylvia Brock (12th Grade) received an "Outstanding Soloist Award" for her solo in "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?" Mrs. Kyla Perry, Vocal Jazz Director, received an "Outstanding Accompanist Award" as well. Vocal Jazz is a select, auditioned ensemble that meets during the school day. Mrs. Kyla Perry teaches the music to the class and Mr. Chad Eastman, who also teaches science at South Seneca, teaches choreography to the students for each song. Vocal Jazz has been operating as a Show Choir since the 2014-2015 school year. Let's hear it for these Falcons! #foreverfalcons
