We love having Sweethearts and Heroes continuing the work of SEL practices, restorative circle work, and anti-bullying training with BRAVES. We are grateful for the partnership and continued growth of this program in MS. Our collaboration with the elementary and high school students to foster these shared values is an incredible opportunity for South Seneca students.

October 2, 2024 JOINT PRESS RELEASE SENECA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE SOUTH SENECA CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT Seneca County Sheriff Timothy Thompson reports, on October 1st, 2024 at approximately 4:00pm, Investigators arrested Everett J. Babcock, age 62 of Ovid, NY, for the crime of Criminal Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds, a class E Felony. The South Seneca Junior/Senior High School Resource Officer was alerted to the possibility of a weapon being on school grounds. An immediate investigation began, and a .22 caliber long rifle along with ammunition were discovered in the maintenance building. School officials and members of the Sheriff’s Office have deemed the incident as isolated and have confirmed that there was no immediate threat to students or faculty. South Seneca Superintendent Zielinski added, “On Tuesday afternoon this week we learned that our employee had been accused of keeping a firearm unsecured on our campus, and we are grateful for the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office’s swift action in response. Safety and security has always been, and will always be, a primary concern for the district, and in 2024 no one should have any confusion about bringing firearms of any kind into a school district. We will cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation”. Everett Babcock was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear at the Ovid Town Court on October 15, 2024 to answer the charge.

Our Floriculture class gave a New York twist to a Texas tradition: the Homecoming Mum! Students learned about the rich history of this unique Homecoming tradition and how it's grown into a big celebration in Texas. To kick off our own Homecoming Week, students crafted their own mums in school colors!

Breana Copp's High School students recently explored color mixing and color theory by creating frosted cookie color wheels in a TC3 Painting class. Additionally, students in the photography class are learning about the history of photography and how the first photographic prints were created. They have begun exploring cyanotypes and how when you expose a light-sensitive paper to sunlight, it will create an image.
