STMEA’s Middle School All-County Band Festival took place at Ithaca High School on January 25th. Participating districts included Dryden, Groton, Ithaca, Lansing, Newfield, South Seneca, and Trumansburg. The Middle School Honor Band was guest conducted by Ms. Nina Savasta of Oxford Academy & Central School. These students all spent many hours after school hours preparing their music for their honors band rehearsals and performance. The following students participated in the Middle School Honor Band: Kennedy Basher (Oboe, 8th), Paul “Trey” Brock (Baritone Saxophone, 8th), Isabella Cotto (Trombone, 8th), Emery Erickson (Tenor Saxophone, 8th), Reese Holmberg (Alto Saxophone, 8th), Alice Huang (Bass Clarinet, 8th), Sophia Jennings (Clarinet, 8th), Elana Michael (Trombone, 7th), Auburn Mitchell (Percussion, 8th), Danielle Nelson (Bass Clarinet, 7th), Nadja Paparone (Clarinet 8th), and Emily Williamson (Trumpet, 8th). High School Students who attended are: Kayleigh Banfield (Alto, 9th Grade), Grayson Booth (Bass, 12th Grade), Jacob Borst (Bass, 12th Grade), Sylvia Brock (Soprano, 12th Grade), Brooke Butler (Soprano, 11th Grade), Hannah Drexler (Tenor, 11th Grade), Brooke Jennings (Soprano, 9th Grade), Darbee Johnson (Alto, 11th Grade), Quinn Kempf (Tenor, 9th Grade), Addison Kiser (Alto, 9th Grade), Vyvynn Powell (Soprano, 12th Grade), and Molly Stirlen (Alto, 11th Grade). Students worked with guest conductors, Mr. Holden Maiorana (MS) and Ms. Rebecca Saltzman (HS), over a two day period, which culminated in a Concert at Lansing Middle School on January 18.  An extra shoutout to Kayleigh Banfield for being featured in a solo and Sylvia Brock and Hannah Drexler’s small group participation in the closing piece for the HS, “Dance in the Graveyards.”
