school

Hi Everyone,

With two groups of in-school students and one group of virtual students, adjustments have been made, and we are ready. Additional messages pertaining to your grade levels or groups will be sent and stored on the website.  To access news items like this, go to the school of your choice at southseneca.org and my messages will be in the news section of each school.   Look under the “explore” link on the school homepage.  The phone app has a slightly different look than the computer desktop version, so it will take some getting used to.

Building Rotation Calendar:  This calendar shows the group days for grades 7-12.  It's linked from both school sections of the website.

Procedures:

  • Remember that prior to coming into school all students will need to be screened. You should have received an email from the school with the needed information. Please access the Cayuga Medical Health Screener at http://southseneca.cayugahealth.com.  If you did not receive an email or are otherwise having problems with it, please email Mrs. Naomi Zuckerman, our business manager.  Her email is nzuckerman@southseneca.org.  If you can’t get your student registered, don’t worry, we’ll work out the bugs in our first week.

  • I just posted our new Hybrid School Procedures document, and it’s linked directly from the middle and high school home pages.  I’ll be posting a short video very soon on how to navigate our updated website.  That should be very helpful

Technology

  • Chromebooks.  We still have a few Chromebooks that need to be distributed.

    • 6th grade Chromebooks will be distributed on the first day.  No worries there.

    • Cayuga kids who don't have them can come in on Monday from 10 to 1 or Tuesday when they come to school. Please call 869-9636 ext 3101 if you’d like to pick up the unit on Monday. This goes to my cell phone. Nobody else but me will be in the building on Monday, so you'll need to use my extension.

    • Any all virtual students who don't have them will be called for arrangements on Chromebook pick up.  Monday is a possibility too.

    • Any Seneca students needing their Chromebooks should try to get theirs on Monday between 10 and 1 or Tuesday after 10.  Please call 869-9636 ext 3101 if you’d like to pick up the unit on Monday. This goes to my cell phone.  Nobody else but me will be in the building on Monday, so you'll need to use my extension.  No Seneca students will be allowed into the building on Tuesday morning before 10.

  • Student email:

    • Students should get into the habit of checking it every day!

    • Now for the fun stuff:  The Great Ovid Pizza Give-Away.  I’m giving away 25 large pizzas from the Italian Kitchen to some lucky students.  All students have to do to enter is send me an email with "pizza" in the subject line from their school email address.

We switched to Google Gmail this summer, and I want every student to know how to do it.  For directions, please see this tutorial if help is needed.  If your kid needs help, call the school at 869-9636 ext 3101.  That will go to my cell phone, and I’ll help them get on the way to a great Italian Kitchen pizza and Gmail success!  I’ll draw the 25 winners on Wednesday at 5:00.

Mr. H’s number 1 tip for students:  Don’t be nervous!  Leave that up to us!! Approach this with some humor and take it as a challenge.  We’ll get through this together!

I really appreciate everyone’s understanding.  It’s been a huge challenge, and it won’t be easy, but we’ll get this thing going together one way or the other.  I hope you have a great weekend.
