SPANISH EDUCATION

The foreign language course offered at South Seneca Middle School is Spanish, with classes in grades 7 (Spanish 1A) and 8 (Spanish 1B). By passing both the course and the 8th grade assessment (no longer a NYS exam), students earn a high school credit.

The course is governed by NYS standards for world languages called “Checkpoint A.” Objectives include learning to read, write, listen, and speak with basic proficiency in the target language, as well as some fundamental knowledge about the culture of Spanish-speaking countries.
